David Tillis, M.A. LPC
David Tillis has worked in the Mental Health and Substance Abuse field throughout his entire 30-year career. He has served in a multitude of treatment agencies such as wilderness treatment programs, private psychiatric hospitals and served on three Community Services Boards.
Tillis started the Gwinnett Community Service Board including Gwinnett, Rockdale & Newton (GRN) Recovery Centers in the mid 1980s. He was the Assistant Program Director at Sam’s Crossing in the Partial Hospitalization program with Dekalb Community Service Board.
Tillis was the Program Director for the thirteen county region of the Georgia Mountain Community Service Board. He was the director of Mental Health Forensic Out-Reach Program serving the thirteen county outlying mental health centers and detention centers. He has provided supervision to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as provided continuing education to outside agencies including testifying in the court of law as an expert witness.
Tillis served on the Legislative Board for Licensed Professional Counselors Association in the early 1990s. He left Government work in 1999 and founded the Medlock Bridge Counseling Center.
